Humans had to leave Earth due to struggle. Most of the ones that were wealthy escaped on ships to colonize the rest of the stars. The poor were left to fend for themselves. A brave team of scientists led an expedition for the poor to colonize the moon, which had been terraformed in the past, but had grown out of control. After life on the Moon was established, they decided to ban technology. Years later, outside influences tried to reintroduce it, which caused a war. The kingdoms had been torn apart, and the heirs to one of the kingdoms, known as Purity, were later taken hostage. Pitted against each other, the younger prince was given the throne of the seven Digital Citadels, which are seven, seven layered cities that tower high above the Wyld. The true king was made a prisoner, banished to the lower levels in one of the citadels known as Lower Zu in Neo-Philadelphia. Thrust from a medieval like upbringing, he is cast into a cyberjunkie dystopia, turning to drugs, sex, and gaming to escape his onus. Tortured by the world around him, and about to face his doom, he awakens.

Imagine all of the forces of the artificial intelligence surveillance system are after you. How would you escape? You would need help. After the technology was reintroduced to the Moon, the remaining army of Purity slowly fought back. By infiltrating the Digital Citadels, they covertly recruit cyberjunkies, who rebel against the system, to their side. When the media found out, they called the rebels the Re-Tek, because they reuse scrapped technology as weapons. Meant to be an insult, they took it as a badge of honor. To the system, they are a joke, to their king, they are his way out.
